Story About Our Firm

Mr. Davis Duty with his Seeing Eye Dog

Located in Fort Smith, Arkansas, USA, the venerable firm of Duty & Duty, Attorneys at Law, was founded in 1911 in Rogers, Arkansas, by John R. Duty and his brother Claude J. Duty. It has passed down through two subsequent family generations, including Jeff Davis Duty, Sr., and his brother, Ralph W. Duty, to Jeff Davis Duty, Jr. (known as “Davis Duty”), who has been the sole proprietor of Duty & Duty since the death of his father, Jeff Duty, in 1999.

Davis Duty has over 50 years of experience in the practice of law and almost 40 years of experience in Social Security law, including 10 years during which he served as an Administrative Law Judge for the United States Social Security Administration.  The practice is now limited exclusively to Social Security Disability, including Supplemental Security Income.

In addition to being licensed to practice law in the state of Arkansas, Mr. Duty is specifically licensed to handle cases in the Federal district courts in both Arkansas and Oklahoma, as well as the United States Circuit Courts of Appeal for the 8th and 10th circuits and the United States Supreme Court.  He is also authorized to practice Social Security Law throughout the United States.  Due to the limitations on time and staffing, Duty & Duty limits its representation to clients in Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Davis Duty is “AV Preeminent Rated,” which is the highest rating awarded by Martindale-Hubbell, an organization that rates attorneys across the country.

Davis Duty is a past member of the board of directors of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives (NOSSCR),
representing the 8th Circuit. He is a member of the Vestry at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Fort Smith.
